Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) include integrating reproductive health into national strategies and programs and universal access to sexual and reproductive health services like family planning (FP). The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that influence married women of reproductive age in urban areas of South Sumatra to use long-term contraceptives. This study used a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design using secondary data from the 2017 Indonesian Health Demographic Survey (IDHS). The sample was 247 respondents who were married women. Logistic regression was used in data analysis. In urban areas of South Sumatra, 13.8% of married women of reproductive age used long-term contraceptive methods. Long-term contraceptive method use was significantly correlated with the number of living children and employment status (p-value < 0.05). Among married women of reproductive age in the urban area of the South, education is the most strongly correlated factor with long-term contraceptive method use (p-value 0.04; PR 4.238 (1.070 - 16.779). Education is the most crucial factor in long-term contraceptive method use. Increasing knowledge regarding long-term contraceptive methods has a significant influence on the decision to use long-term contraceptive methods.
